Charles B. Passwater, former superintendent of the Linden schools and who will be remembered as having officiated at several basketball games was killed Tuesday at the Hempstead, LI aviation field when his machine fell 2000'. His home was in Noblesville and he enlisted from that city in March 1917. He had received his first training at San Antonio, Texas and had recently been sent east to complete his training and would have received a commission in ten days. -- kbz
